L’Institut d’art contemporain effectuera des présentations régulières de choix d’œuvres de la Collection FRAC Rhône-Alpes qu’il expose habituellement dans d’autres villes de la région. Ces présentations se proposeront d’inciter à de nouvelles lectures et au renouvellement des expériences susceptibles d’être générées par ces œuvres. La perspective est double : il s’agira, d’une part, d’organiser des croisements entre les différentes œuvres et, de l’autre, de renforcer et d’éclairer le propos des autres expositions présentées simultanément à l’Institut d’art contemporain par des références historiques, formelles, thématiques, critiques ou d’attitudes artistiques. Cette présentation 001 met en lumière des œuvres d’artistes qui ont dans les années soixante-dix transgressé les limites du champ esthétique classique en y introduisant la présence physique et le geste de la performance, et d’autres qui ont procédé à des enregistrements systématiques d’espaces socio-économiques aux fins d’analyser les systèmes qui structurent la société. Des œuvres d’Annette Messager, Orlan, André Cadere, Stephen Willats, Gina Pane, Helen Levitt, Lygia Pape, Rebecca Horn composent cette première sélection.

The Institut d'art contemporain will be putting on regular shows of selected works from the FRAC Rhône-Alpes collection which it normally exhibits in towns around the region. The intention is that these shows should stimulate new readings of the works, and renew the kinds of experience that are generated by them. The perspective is twofold: on the one hand, that of generating crossovers between the different works and, on the other hand, that of reinforcing and clarifying the ideas behind the other exhibitions presented at the Institut d'art contemporain through historical, formal, thematic and critical references, and artistic attitudes. This 001 show casts light on works by artists who, in the 1970s, transgressed the limits of the classical aesthetic field with the introduction of physical presence and the gestures of performance, and others who carried out systematic samplings of socio-economic spaces with a view to analysing the systems that structure society. This initial selection is made up of works by Annette Messager, Orlan, André Cadere, Stephen Willats, Gina Pane, Helen Levitt, Lygia Pape and Rebecca Horn.
